Goodbye to Lone Conservative

With heavy heads, we share that Lone Conservative will shut down after eight years, effective today. This has been a difficult decision, but we believe the time for the publication has sadly passed.

Lone Conservative was founded by Kassy in 2016. At a time when conservative college students often felt unwelcome contributing to their own campus publications, we provided a place for aspiring conservatives to have a voice. Since then, more than 500 students from 48 states and several countries have contributed to Lone Conservative. Dozens of them found careers in journalism, politics, and academia.

At our height, we gained more than a million page views, took a large group of contributors CPAC several years in a row, wrote countless investigative and opinion stories about campus misconduct, launched several podcasts with our young conservative leaders, and even brought a large group of us to Israel for a journalism trip.

I personally have been graced with so much as a result of joining Lone Conservative nearly five years ago. I recently accepted a job as a columnist at USA Today. I know for a fact I would have never gotten the opportunities I am building my career upon without Kassy and Lone Conservative. I know from speaking to several of our former writers, that Lone Conservative played a valuable role in launching their careers as well.

We are all forever thankful to Kassy and everyone else who helped build Lone Conservative for all they have done for us.

In addition to professional development, Lone Conservative has given us life long friends, advisors, and memories we will cherish forever.

To all of our dedicated readers and supporters, we would like to thank you for your role in this incredible journey. You have been instrumental in preparing the next generation of young conservatives to shape the future of the movement.

Without your support, many of these students would have lacked the necessary opportunities to begin promising careers in journalism, policy, and political operations. We are forever grateful for all you have done for us.

To the next generation of college students, we would like to encourage you to get creative. Have fun in your mission to combat the radicalism that plagues your classrooms and prevents you from being taken seriously in your campus papers. Build a community of like-minded students you can lean on, attended national events with, and kick your careers off with.

We are sad that our time is coming to an end, but happy to have shared many wonderful years with you all. The future of the conservative movement has gained so much from Lone Conservative, and I am very happy to have been a part of it.
