Merry Christmas everyone,
Last year, Lone Conservative’s former Editor in Chief Nate Gorman and myself wrote in this very Christmas newsletter about our challenge to you. That challenge was to overcome the vile nature of politicians who seek to divide us. In last year’s context, this challenge was to remember Christmas as a day for you to spend time together, not as some super-spreader event that politicians and the media wanted to market it as.
Since then, our country has broadly defeated the vile nature of forever-pandemic wishers. However, we are not beyond the cancer of divisiveness within our politics, nor will we ever be.
That’s why today, I want to renew that challenge to all of you: continue to resist the attempts to divide you against your fellow countrymen. Whether that be those within the Republican party who wish to make you view your like-minded Americans as the enemy, those within the Democrat party who wish to smear you as the epitome of pure evil, or those within your family that can’t put politics aside just to enjoy time together, we must continue our attempts to overcome divisiveness in every facet of American life.
My challenge to you is to meet these attempts to drive you apart from others with love and compassion. Not to entirely accept those you disagree with, but to have compassion for why they feel a certain way and to work to overcome that difference to recognize each other as individuals. Resist the urge to view everyone as the enemy, and work with those who are willing to try to find a better way forward for all Americans.
Best Wishes,
Dace Potas, President of Lone Conservative
