When reading Scripture, one often recoils at the sins it records. Among the most vile sins is that of child sacrifice. The Israelites and pagan nations burning children alive for the false god Moloch is an act so depraved that we think it unconscionable.
We are right to condemn their sin, yet we falter in separating our generation from theirs, deeming ours free of such horrors.
The Cult of Moloch endures. We no longer burn our children alive, instead, we abort hundreds of thousands of children a year. None worship ancient gods themselves, instead new idols have taken their place.
The abortionists who murder these babies are the modern prophets of sacrifice. Theirs are the hands that shed innocent blood.
Those who gleefully obtain abortions in pursuit of their gods are the modern cultists. It must be said that not every mother who has had an abortion is in this cult. Due to the pervasiveness of the lies about abortion, many mothers truly do not know that their baby was a living human being. Others were scared or coerced into getting an abortion. For these mothers, their respective abortions are each grave wrongs for which they must seek repentance—this being true of all sin—but theirs is a sin of a different kind than the proselytizers.
These mothers know their baby is human and delight in their own child’s murder nevertheless. Sadly, these mothers are hardly a rarity, representing a sizable portion of those who have had an abortion. According to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, 38% of mothers said the reason they had an abortion was that their baby would interfere with their job, would interfere with their education, or they had completed their childbearing.
These mothers turned their job, their plan in life, and their education into an idol, and gladly gave their child’s life to it. They allowed their baby to be murdered for a nicer office, a higher GPA, and because they “completed [their] childbearing.” Perhaps when they feel they have completed their parenting, they can simply abandon their children too.
These are mothers like Lindy West, the woman who started the hashtag, #ShoutYourAbortion. In discussing her abortion, West said, “[H]aving an abortion made me happy in a totally unqualified way. Why wouldn’t I be happy that I was not forced to become a mother?” Of course, upon conception West no longer had the option to not be a mother. She was and still is a mother, albeit a wretched mother to a murdered child.
Actress Michelle Williams is another cultist. Williams claimed during her Golden Globes acceptance speech, “I wouldn’t have been able to do this without employing a woman’s right to choose. To choose when to have my children and with whom.” Reprehensibly, Williams used the Lord’s name in vain, thanking God for being able to murder her baby in pursuit of a golden idol that will rust and decay.
When Justice Alito’s draft opinion for Dobbs was leaked and the cultists realized Roe may soon be overturned, many bemoaned that hookup culture will be destroyed and they won’t be able to have sex with countless strangers.
For the Cult of Moloch, abortion isn’t just a sin they engage in, it’s sacred. It is a demonic sacrament that honors their gods as the ordinances of baptism and communion honor the true God. It is an act by which they can renounce virtue and declare fealty to their lusts and unmitigated glut.
God’s wrath burns against them, for few sins are greater than that of a mother murdering her own child. A mother is supposed to give her life for the sake of her children, not to take their lives for her sake. She is supposed to be a person they know they are safe with. The Apostle Paul tells us that to neglect one’s family is an act of unbelief; that mothers are to love their children.
The Cult of Moloch proudly disobeys these commandments, and so long as our nation’s laws remain under their influence, I, as Jefferson once did, tremble when I remember that God is just and that His justice cannot sleep forever.
If we are to be a righteous nation, if we are to receive God’s blessings and be spared from His wrath, we must defeat the Cult of Moloch. They must be exposed, and life must prevail.
