Earlier this month President Biden announced that he was working with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to mandate that all private companies with over 100 employees force those employees to receive the COVID-19 vaccine or be subjected to weekly tests. If employees do not comply, they risk losing their jobs. Businesses that refuse to comply face up to $14,000 in fines. This move from the Biden administration proves that the COVID precautions are no longer about protecting the population from the virus, it’s about revoking as many of our freedoms as possible.
It is time for Americans to fight back harder than we’ve ever fought before.
Biden’s mandate comes as a response to millions of Americans who are hesitant about receiving the vaccine and have refused to get it. “We’ve been patient,” Biden said at his press conference. “But our patience is wearing thin, and your refusal has cost all of us.”
With this announcement, Biden crossed a line that no other president has dared to cross. This gross overstep of presidential power is constitutionally dubious and a massive infringement upon states’ rights. The Constitution outlines the role of the federal government and the role of state governments, purposefully separating them and giving the state governments more power. The Founders knew that an overly powerful central government would eventually turn against the people and they wanted to ensure this did not happen. By trying to usurp the states, Biden is directly defying the design of our constitutional system.
White House Chief of Staff, Ron Klain, all but admitted the illegality of this order when he retweeted a post from MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle. In her tweet, Ruhle labeled the OSHA enforced mandate as “the ultimate work-around for the federal government to require vaccinations.” Klain’s retweet essentially serves as an endorsement of this viewpoint by the White House. They know what they are doing. They just don’t care.
The proposed mandate not only affects states’ rights, but it also affects the individual rights of approximately 80 million Americans.
Fortunately, several GOP governors have condemned the president’s actions and vowed to fight the mandate in court. South Carolina governor Henry McMaster stated in a tweet that he would “fight [the mandate] to the gates of hell to protect the liberty and livelihood of every South Carolinian.” Likewise, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem tweeted “South Dakota will stand up to defend freedom. @JoeBiden see you in court.” Arizona governor Doug Ducey and Texas governor Greg Abbott – along with many others – also announced their decisions to fight the Biden Administration.
Politicians are not the only ones who are refusing to enforce the mandates. Some companies, both well known and not so well known, have stated they will not listen to the mandate. Conservative media outlet The Daily Wire announced in a video that they would not be enforcing the mandate on their own employees and that they were preparing a legal case against the Administration.
Drexel Building Supply in Campbellsport, WI is another business that has also stated they will not enforce the mandate. In an interview with FOX6 News, Drexel president Joel Fleischman said “I’m not going to tell [my employees] they’re going to get a shot. We’re not going down that path.”
Even citizens of other countries are standing up to their governments. French citizens have been flooding their streets for weeks in response to vaccine passports being passed into law. Greek medical workers also demonstrated against mandatory vaccines for everyone working in the healthcare industry.
This mandate is a new low for Biden. While it is good that politicians and businesses are trying to stand up to the president’s orders, it is imperative that the people take a stand as individuals too. Americans need to put a stop to the insanity.
In times like these, civil disobedience might be the only way to ensure we’re not overrun by a government gone mad with power. Refusing to comply with the vaccine mandates will send the message that we are done with the lunacy. We’ve spent a year and a half of our lives in fear of this virus and been made to comply with policies that are not scientifically proven. If we don’t draw the line now, we risk losing many more of our freedoms. The time for compliance is over. The time to take back our freedoms starts right now.
