Joe Biden’s Deadly Arrogance

Amid the greatest American foreign policy disaster of recent political history, Joe Biden has seized every opportunity to show how incompetent and shameless he is.

Biden wanted the political win of “bringing our troops home” so bad and so quickly that he completely ignored the reality of the situation in Afghanistan, which was that any exit would require detailed strategy and planning for complications that could arise. It is obvious that none of that was done, at least not in any serious way.

In Biden’s interview with George Stephanopoulos, he was asked whether the withdrawal was a failure of “intelligence, planning, execution, or judgment,” to which his response was, “Look, I don’t think it was a failure.”

I don’t understand how it is not a failure when you have 800 people crowded together like sardines in C-17s, with some outside clinging to the landing gear and falling to their deaths shortly after takeoff. It seems like it could have been planned better.

Joe Biden not only refused to acknowledge his egregious error, but he immediately started casting the blame on the Afghan military, saying that “American troops cannot and should not be fighting in a war and dying in a war, that Afghan forces are not willing to fight for themselves”.

But it’s not a question of if the Afghan forces are willing to fight, because they are. However, the Afghans are dependent on American intelligence and air support. You can argue that they shouldn’t be and that they should be better equipped and prepared to fight on their own, but just saying “screw it, we’re getting out of here” is not going to help the situation.

CNN reporter Clarissa Ward (who has demonstrated great bravery by reporting on the ground in Kabul) questioned Biden’s characterization, asking “I think a lot of people outside their airport, particularly those taking the kinds of extreme actions…would like to know if this isn’t failure, what does failure look like, exactly?”

Biden should resign, but he won’t. The Democrat-run Congress won’t impeach him either. To the “conservatives” that voted for Biden and are now surprised, I have one thing to say: elections have consequences. It sure would be nice to have allies that could trust us, but we’ve likely squandered that trust since we abandoned Hong Kong to the dominion of China and left Afghanistan to a bunch of barbarians who are running around with billions of dollars of our own weaponry.

Because of Biden’s failure, the Taliban is reportedly going door to door looking for Christians, searching for anyone even with a Bible app on their phone. The country will be run under Sharia law. Single women as young as 15 are being distributed among the men for marriage, which really means a life of sex slavery. Thousands of Americans are still on the ground in Afghanistan, and probably the only way to get them all out will be to bribe the Taliban to set them free.

American soldiers gave their lives for the war in Afghanistan and now it feels as if it was all for nothing. Joe Biden should feel shame, but he has none.

It must be comforting for Jimmy Carter to have lived long enough to see a president making worse foreign policy decisions than himself.
