Today’s society doesn’t seem to know what to do with women. Mothers are often rightfully praised as being the backbone of society, but then the phrase “nursing mother” is replaced with “breastfeeding person” or “birthing person” by our politicians. You can praise a working mother, but it’s politically incorrect to praise a stay-at-home mother. While the woke might see little problem with this positional chaos, the majority of our society is not comfortable using the term “breastfeeding person.” It is against such crazy crowds that women must stand together, defending positions held by women and traditional femininity in general.
There is one person in particular who is a prime example of such conventional grace—Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge. There are two ways in particular in which I think Kate Middleton imbues femininity and tradition: her style and her presence as a mother.
First, she dresses well and knows that it teems with feminine strength. Kate Middleton is rarely seen with a button out of place, her hair undone, or without makeup. She knows how to dress to her body type and does so wonderfully. Using her femininity and sense of style to command an audience, she displays the elegance and formality that we associate with the monarchy. Much like celebrities using clothes to shock and amaze, she uses her clothes to embrace tradition and authority. Modesty runs counter to culture these days—knee hemlines are not fashionable and conservative dress can be seen as frumpy. But the difference between style and fashion is that the former takes time to curate while simultaneously being more difficult than the latter to perfect. Although Kate has a host of dressers, tailors, and make-up artists at her call, she never goes overboard and maintains naturality while doing so.
Kate is also a mother, which, as any mother knows, is both a chore and a blessing. When asked about balancing her royal and home lives, she remarked, “There’s such a pull, but I am such a hands-on mom, and whatever you’re doing you want to make sure you’re doing the uttermost best job you can for your children.” Kate has been known to sidestep royal rules that dictate that nannies are responsible for soothing fussy children and instead chooses to calm them herself. If anyone has an excuse to be an absentee parent, a royal has every opportunity. They have nannies, teachers, cooks, cleaners, and all other kinds of domestic help that any parent could want. But by all accounts, Kate is a present mom who loves her children.
Kate Middleton is a fantastic example for young women to follow. Though the British monarchy is rife with drama and scandal, Kate stands out as a glowing role model for grace and motherhood. Her efforts to keep both herself and her family in clean and elegant condition is something to be admired, even by American standards.
