Dear readers,

We hope you are enjoying your weekend. For those of you who dwell in an environment with a perpetual and insufferable buzzing sound these days, we send our condolences and hope you can read this over the squeals of the cicadas.

In his Monday article, our own Nathan Biller details the progressive takeover of the comic book industry. Biller explains how the comic industry, much like Hollywood, is embracing progressive dogma instead of developing intricate plots with complex characters. Biller highlights one particularly egregious case in which a villainous Marvel character is made to mirror Jordan Peterson. Biller warns readers that the comic book industry’s newfound progressivism will influence the minds of young Americans.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently instituted a new policy allowing flags other than the American flag to be flown alongside it at U.S. embassies. This has resulted in pride flags being flown at embassies around the world. Our very own Jasmine Campos explains (in patriotic fashion) why she believes this is a poor decision in her article What It Means To Fly Old Glory.

The Southern Baptist Convention, America’s “largest and most influential evangelical denomination” is at a crossroads over its future. SBC President J.D. Greear’s term ends this month. Members of the SBC who attend their annual meeting this weekend can start voting for Mr. Greear’s successor. The race will determine the future of this most influential convention and evangelicalism as a whole. Candidates are in disagreement over how much the church should engage in partisan politics, how the church can diversify itself, and whether or not it should reject Critical Race Theory. Read all about the drama and tension of the SBC here in the Wall Street Journal

With all of the craziness going on in the news, it is good to just take a step back and have a laugh. James Lilek has a great satire piece in the July 1 edition of the National Review Magazine. If a hearty chuckle over the Fauci email scandal is what you seek, you can find a link to that here.
