Biden and Illegal Immigration

The crisis at the southern border is far from new. As the child of Central American immigrants, I know this situation all too well. With the Biden Administration, we have seen a far more forgiving approach towards those who come here illegally. So much so, that even tongue-in-cheek tweets such as this one by Tom Cotton can be fairly believable without a second thought.

Within the past few years we have seen thousands of Central American migrants march northward towards our border. In the last administration, President Trump not only cracked down on these illegal immigrants but even negotiated effective deals with Mexico to serve as an effective buffer for these migrants.

Under  the Biden administration, not only are illegal immigrants being released on mass, but it seems they see the Biden Administration as being one that actively welcomes them. It’s no surprise that this mass influx of migrants did not come until Biden came into office.

Time and time again Biden shows a willingness to allow these illegal immigrants into the country. He may have said on national television he did not want them coming to America, but actions speak far louder than words.

From releasing illegal immigrants, to effectively putting ICE on ice, Joe Biden has shown a strong reluctance to tackle the illegal immigration problem facing our nation. The situation is far worse than just having a large number of illegal immigrants seeking better economic opportunities, but this situation poses a serious national security threat.

The United States has caught at least one illegal immigrant who was on the US terrorist watch list. Imagine how many more managed to make it in under the radar. Imagine how many more will pour in if nothing is to be done. These caravans pose as serious a national security threat, as well as an economic one.

I doubt the Biden administration will act at all, and will likely provide some sort of amnesty for these migrants. When conservative states like Texas and Louisiana demand the federal government take action, then you know you have a serious problem on your hands.

I could recommend serious reforms the Biden administration could pick up to combat this crisis, but that would be the definition of insanity. Realistic actions the administration could take to stem the tide could be to negotiate a deal with Mexico, stop the release of migrants, and promote border states to act as they see fit.

I understand the plight of these people, my grandparents were one of them a long time ago when they fled communists in the 80s. However, the threats these caravans pose become increasingly dangerous as the list of America’s enemies grow.

The vast majority of these migrants may simply be looking for a better life, some may be far more malicious. If one ISIS, Cartel, or MS-13 member were to enter the US and hurt one American that is one too many.

They not only pose a threat to the wellbeing of Americans but just as well the immigrants within the caravans themselves. Coyotes have shown themselves time and time again to be ruthless, with some migrant children despairing never to be seen again. If the Biden administration took this problem with at least a grain of seriousness, then we wouldn’t be having anywhere near the threat level we have now.
