Vogue, a giant in the fashion and lifestyle publication industry, is the “champion” of women around the world…unless you don’t follow the narrative.
Tomi Lahren, one of the most outspoken and controversial conservative pundits of recent years, released an athleisure line, named “Freedom,” partnered with Alexo Atheletica. Lahren’s line of star-spangled leggings, sports bras and more allow deep pockets for women to efficiently carry wallets, keys and other items. She aims to give women a brand that isn’t hostile towards their beliefs and welcomes anyone who enjoys actual pockets on female clothing.
While partnered with a brand known for its carrywear, Lahren’s line does not feature the signature built-in holster Alexo’s Signature Carrywear contains. Even so, Vogue has instantly announced a dislike for Lahren’s line of clothing because of what she stands for.
The fashion magazine giant published an article called “The Real Problems with Tomi Lahren’s Athleisure Line,” but didn’t actually state any real issues besides Tomi Lahren not being liberal. Furthermore, it urged readers to support “real feminists” fashion designers who cater to various body types and skin colors, instead of Lahren’s line which happens to be sold by a company that manufactures and sells carrywear, that the conservative has previously promoted.
The definition of feminism is, “the advocacy of women’s rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes.” The word “feminist” has been hijacked by the third wave feminists, and includes some women, not all women. It has become the new normal for “feminists” to treat conservative women as “sex traitors.”
I agree, we should support women designers who encourage body positivity and self expression, but we should also support carrywear. Carrywear is important so women can still have protection and remain comfortable, when they’re often at their most vulnerable and exposed, out running, or at the gym.
Tomi Lahren’s new line, “Freedom,” allows women of any race, body shape, and political leaning to have trendy and comfortable athletic wear. So why say “no!” to deep and real pockets just because the founder doesn’t agree with you? It’s time to grow up and support all our fellow ladies—and pockets!
