Why do people hate libertarians? This is the question Remso W. Martinez,  the radio host of Remso Republic, attempts to answer with his new book Stay Away From The Libertarians!

Unafraid to criticize, the young liberty advocate comes out swinging against Establishment Politics, reaffirming the fact that the real battle is not against the left or the right, but against authoritarians on both sides of the isle. Remso successfully weaves personal experiences, history, and thoughtful political analysis in his book . He discusses his ideological journey from Republican to a small-L libertarian, while attempting to debunk  “the myths, misconceptions, and outright lies thrown at libertarians” at the same time.

Those unaware of libertarianism should be unafraid of tackling the book. Stay Away From The Libertarians! includes background information about everything one needs to know about the liberty movement, including the main principles of libertarianism, important figures such as Ayn Rand and Ron Paul, student movements such as Students for Liberty and Young Americans for Liberty, and the Libertarian Party. Remso writes about his journey to discover his political identity, describing his struggles through school, upper education, and his time as an advocate. He describes his interactions with people, including intelligent and savvy libertarians and conservatives to authoritarian progressives, the alt-right, and radical libertarians who damage the movement.

The relaxed and casual tone of the book makes the reader feel less like they are reading a book and more like they are listening to a podcast. Remso is honest about his feelings and is not afraid to be crude to make a point. His analysis about modern politics is thoughtful and frank; he does not mince words. While Remso goes off on tangents quite often, they never fail to tie back into his experiences with libertarianism. Reading the book never feels like a chore and is enjoyable for those with an interest in politics.

Though certain assertions certainly raised my eyebrows, they did not detract from the fact that Stay Away From The Libertarians! is good read for people who want to learn more about the modern liberty movement. While far from perfect, the causal style to the thoughtful analysis about libertarianism make the book an enjoyable read for any politics enthusiast.
