Lucian Wintrich Gave the Media Exactly What They Wanted

As if hosting an “It’s Okay to be White” event wouldn’t get enough attention from the leftist media, just add violence to the mix and you hand the media exactly what they’re looking for.

On Tuesday November 28th, the College Republicans at the University of Connecticut hosted White House correspondent for The Gateway Pundit, Lucian Wintrich. Wintrich gave a speech titled “It’s Okay to be White” and, as with any other right-leaning speaker on campus, he was protested widely.

Aside from the very provocative title of the speech, nothing was out of the ordinary; right-leaning speakers are almost always protested and heckled. Most of the time they take it well and try to avoid these altercations, but this is where Wintrich failed. When one attendee of the event grabbed what appeared to be his notes for his speech, Wintrich followed her up an aisle in the venue, grabbed her and pulled her towards him. This is substantiated by video evidence and further surveillance shows security guards and other attendees attempting to break up the altercation.

The University of Connecticut’s spokesperson, Stephanie Reitz, gave a statement confirming Wintrich’s arrest. Reitz also said, “There are no other arrests or injuries.” This gives the media exactly what they want.

The media has a definitive leftist bend, so they will delight in plastering this incident far and wide. Headlines connecting the “It’s Okay To Be White” speaker and the attack will be everywhere, and they will blame the right as a whole. This is why conservatives must especially denounce Wintrich’s violent act.

Wintrich’s behavior was completely unacceptable, especially for someone who claims to be conservative. We should not attack those who have differing ideas. We have a set of standards we adhere to, and we expect the same from anyone who wishes to be part of the conservative movement. Of course it was wrong of the attendee to steal his speech notes, but, as conservatives, we must rise above the instinct to react with further aggression. Our code of conduct, so to speak, demands better from us. We should always attempt to calmly de-escalate potentially combustible situations.

Simply put, I denounce this act of violence. I hope conservatives everywhere hold anyone who claims to be part of our movement accountable when they act inappropriately.
