The UC Berkeley Administration is continuing to do whatever they can to obstruct Ben Shapiro’s Sept. 14 appearance as well as the upcoming “Free Speech Week” featuring Milo Yiannopoulos and other conservative speakers.
Yiannopoulos told Campus Reform he intends to spend “whatever it takes” to ensure security for himself and attendees of Free Speech Week. According to the secretary of the Berkeley College Republicans, Bradley Devin, he and his colleagues have been unable to contact the administration regarding the continued stalled release of tickets to Shapiro’s event.
Devlin, in an official statement, asserted that “[t]he University has an obligation to protect the First Amendment rights of all its students. This repeated stonewalling is a tactic used frequently to stifle free speech on campus by the university.”
According to Devlin, when handing out fliers for Shapiro’s event, a leftist student took one and proceeded to eat it.

But the insanity doesn’t stop there. In a flier obtained by Lone Conservative, a left-wing group by the name of Speak Out Now is advocating that right-wing speakers, specifically Yiannopoulos, be shut down.
The flier states that: “With fascist groups first attempting to organize rallies in late August & confirmation of Milo Yiannopoulos’ return to campus in September, UC Berkeley continues to be the destination of choice for various expressions of the far-right’s bankrupt agenda.”
They go on to ask students to join them for a “discussion.” One can only imagine what would happen if a student showed up to say they were fine with conservatives giving speeches.
However, it would be a safe bet to assume that they will try some sort of disruption tactic during Shapiro’s event as well, since their first meeting is Sept. 7, a week before the event.
After paying a $15,000 security fee, Shapiro has urged those on the right to not show up prepared to enact violence, imploring those who plan to attend that they must allow the police to do their jobs. As tensions rise and blood boils, we at Lone Conservative urge all attendees to keep a level head, steer clear of violence, and stay safe.
“If anyone comes in the name of violence, don’t,” Devlin said Wednesday during an episode of On the Line. “Don’t come to perpetrate acts of violence against Antifa, against me, against my club members – you’re part of the problem if you decide to do that.”
